With one glance into the world of perfumes, you will come across extraordinary perfumes from Tom Ford, the many perfumes created by the designer have cast a spell on you. Right above: “Lost Cherry” by Tom Ford. Cherry perfume is at the top of the wish list for many women and men alike – and it’s written in bold. If only it weren’t for this problem: ‘The Missing Cherry’ costs a fortune at just under 250 euros for a 50-milliliter bottle. A high price tag for one of the tastiest fruity scents a nose must enjoy. Is this cheaper too?
Fortunately, some perfume makers insisted on bringing similar scents to the market. Although they were not specifically released as a decoy, their scent is very reminiscent of the classic. These three “missing cherries” are the icing on the cake — literally.
Tom Ford’s “Lost Cherry” is a juicy cherry with hints of marzipan
- top note: black cherry, cherry liqueur, bitter almond
- Herznot: sour cherry syrup, jasmine sambac, turkish rose
- Basis: Peruvian balsam, roasted tonka bean, sandalwood, vetiver, cedar
The scent notes already give a clue: {window.dataLayer.push({event: ‘link_click’, link_type: ‘extern’, link_url: ‘https://bit.ly/3S17l0D’}})()”>Tom Fords “Lost Cherry”*is a real cherry blast. Here, a sweet cherry liqueur meets a delicious almond. For many, the scent of almonds is very present in the body of marzipan. This creates a delicious combination of cherries and marzipan that is reminiscent of pastries and freshly baked cookies. Woody flavors mellow into the background, which becomes firmer on the skin after prolonged wear. “The Missing Cherry” is a dream made of cherries, more is almost impossible!
Tales of the “Lost Cherry”: There are cheap variations on the classic Cherry, too
Lost Cherry celebrated its entry into the world of perfumery in 2018. Even then, the gourmand-fruity fragrance instantly found a large fan base. On the Parfumo community site, the fragrance has received a total of 8.5 out of 10 stars from over 1,030 reviews. However, Cherry Gold mutated within four years into an expensive package. Initially, the price of the perfume was not 120 euros, but today it is a whopping 424 euros for 100 milliliters.
A few other brands had to jump on the cherry bandwagon a little later. We reveal the three fragrances that are the best dupe for Tom Ford’s “Lost Cherry”.

Kayali “Lovefest Burning Cherry | 48”: Sweet and fruity dream is the little sister to “Lost Cherry”
The unexpected often comes: when perfumer Mona Kattan presented her latest Kayali fragrance in August 2022 as a cherry scent, the internet was already shaking. Many expected a cheap trick from Tom Ford’s “The Lost Cherry” – and they got it. Although the fragrance is great on its own, the cherry here is strongly reminiscent of “Lost Cherry.” In the foreground is a juicy black cherry with a delicate touch of raspberry in the background. In combination with praline, sweetness develops, which Tom Ford is just great with.
Kayali is set up {window.dataLayer.push({event: ‘link_click’, link_type: ‘extern’, link_url: ‘https://tidd.ly/3qadZGb’})})()”>„Burning Cherry”* Also in the base note are tonka bean and woody tones: guaiac wood and palo santo weaken the sweet power later. Only a note of marzipan is missing. Here both scents differ slightly. To the delight of many fans: after all, not everyone was able to make friends with Tom Ford’s almond aroma. Cheap and great alternative at €77.95 for 50ml.
Guerlain “La Petite Robe Noire”: the little black dress in a cherry robe
with {window.dataLayer.push({event: ‘link_click’, link_type: ‘extern’, link_url: ‘https://www.awin1.com/cread.php?awinmid=14598&awinaffid=659153&ued=https%3A%2F%2Fwww .flaconi.de%2Fparfum%2Fguerlain%2Fla-petite-robe-noire%2Fguerlain-la-petite-robe-noire-eau-de-parfum.html ‘}})()”>”La Petite Robe Noire”* Guerlain has made a nostalgic dream come true again: women’s perfume smells like little cherry lollipops from the grocery store, which everyone had to nibble on as a child. Sweet-fruity flavor of red fruits, almonds, roses and sweetest cherries: spicy tea and vanilla blend with licorice in the background.
The scent isn’t quite “Lost Cherry,” but it comes close. He’s the fun little sister: a bit like an amarena cherry with a crisp vanilla on the side, but not as ripe and stable as his big brother. But it’s still delicious – and at just under €70 per 50ml, an inexpensive trick.
Banana Republic “Dark Cherry & Amber”: Garnished with Cherry Sauce
Dark Cherry & Amber smells like a warm winter dessert: hot cherry sauce on vanilla ice cream, a bit like artificial-looking fruit gum with cherry flavor or cherry fudge without a shot. No wonder: the fragrance is based on black cherry and freesia in the top notes and praline in the heart. Outwardly, amber also plays a current role.
{window.dataLayer.push({event: ‘link_click’, link_type: ‘extern’, link_url: ‘https://bit.ly/3BgxKRg’})})()”>”Dark Cherry & Amber”*Not a twin to Tom Ford’s “Lost Cherry”, but a good cousin. Noticeably sweeter in scent, less fruity – yet wonderfully warm. For € 50.50 at 75 milliliters, a really cheap trick from Tom Ford’s bestseller!
Scams in Tom Ford’s “Lost Cherry”: Cherry is also cheap
For many fragrance lovers, Tom Ford’s Cherry in “Lost Cherry” is one of the absolute best on the market. However, there are similar scents that can definitely act as decoys. Cherry perfumes in particular tend to smell similar at first. How they develop on the skin varies from person to person. But it’s good to know that the good-smelling alternatives to “Lost Cherry” cost much less than the original. So everyone can get the taste of cherry.
